Mr. Certilman draws on more than forty years of experience as a commercial generalist and commercial litigator during which he provided insightful and practical counsel to a wide variety of commercial businesses across a broad spectrum of legal subject areas. Mr. Certilman began his career in ADR in 1988, when he joined the arbitration panel of the American Arbitration Association. For thirty years he balanced his practice as an attorney with service as a domestic and international commercial arbitrator and mediator and in 2022 he became a full time neutral. He is a remember of AAA’s arbitration and mediation panels and has also been appointed to the SVAMC Tech List, Court of Arbitration for Art and the arbitration panel of many other administrative organizations worldwide. Mr. Certilman is the author of numerous publications in the field of ADR and is a frequent speaker and trainer in the ADR field. He held an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law teaching International Arbitration. He is an elected fellow and member of the Board of Directors of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and a fellow of the London-based Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, which has also granted him the designation Chartered Arbitrator, its highest professional accreditation. He has also been accredited as a Mediator by CEDR.
Mr. Certilman also has extensive experience in managing presentation of cases in a courtroom setting, having heard more than thirty cases as a Trial Referee for the Superior Court of the State of Connecticut as well as served as a part time magistrate for fourteen years. He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by New York Metro, Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers® in ADR for more than fifteen years.
